1931 - Born on January 9th in Königsberg in East Prussia. American science fiction author.

1936 - He immigrated to the U.S.

1947-1949 - He attended the University of Miami.

1950-1951 - Entered and graduated from Columbia University.

1952 - He began publishing science fiction in the magazine "Astounding Science Fiction" (now "Analog").

         - Published short fiction in magazines under the pseudonym "Alger Rome" while collaborating with Jerome Bixby.

1953-1958 - His early reputation was built on short fiction, including such well known tales as "Riya's Foundling", "The End of Summer", "Nobody Bothers Gus", "Silent Brother", and "The Eye and the Lightning".

         - Married to Edna F. Duna and they had 4 children.

1967 - His novels included: Who?, Rogue Moon, and The Iron Thorn.

1997 - During the 55th World Science Fiction Convention, held in San Antonio, Texas, Budrys and his wife Edna joined Tim Powers, Serena Powers, and Fiona Kelleghan in visiting the Alamo.
