Brunner, John Kilian Houston
1934 - He was born at Preston Crowmarsh in Oxfordshire, on the 24th of September.
1958 - He wrote his first novel, Galactic Storm, at 17, under the name of Gill Hunt, but did not write full time.
- He served as an officer in the Royal Air Force and married Marjorie Rosamond Sauer.
1968-1969 - His novel Stand on Zanzibar won the Hugo Award for best science fiction novel, and is now considered a classic of the genre.

1972 - His novel The Sheep Look Up was a prophetic warning of ecological disaster.
1975 - Brunner's best-known work is perhaps proto-Cyberpunk The Shockwave Rider, in which he coined the term "worm", used to describe software which reproduces itself across a computer network.
