Brunetiere, Vincent de Paul Marie Ferdinand

1849 - Brunetière was born in Toulon, Var, Provence on the 19th of July.
1870 - He studied in Paris at the Lycée Louis-le-Grand. Desiring a teaching career, he entered for examination at the École Normale Supérieure, but failed, and the outbreak of war prevented him trying again.
1893 - He became connected with the Revue des Deux Mondes, first as contributor, then as secretary and sub-editor, and finally, as principal editor.
- He was decorated with the Legion of Honour and became a member of the Académie française.
- Brunetière was an orthodox Roman Catholic, and his political sympathies were conservative.
1906 - He died on the 9th of December.
