Brumel, Valery Nikolayevich
1942 - Born on May 14th in Razvedki, Russia. Soviet athlete who held the world record in the high jump.
1936 - At the age of 14 he was already much better than all adult athletes in the city.
1960 - Valery set his first European record of 2 m 17 cm. After two months, he raised it to 2 m 20 cm.
- He won a silver medal in the Olympics in Rome.
1961-1971 - He held the world record in the high jump.
- Brumel was educated and graduated at the Central Institute of Physical Culture (Moscow).
- Became a member of the Communist Party.
- He won a gold medal in Olympic high jump.
2003 - Died on January 26th in Moscow, Russia.
