American Catholic cardinal. 1920 - He entered St. Charles Seminary in Philadelphia to study for the Priesthood. - He was ordained as a priest. 1940 - He was asked to work for Pope Pius XII in Rome as a judge on the Sacred Roman Rota. 1959 - He was the Dean of the Sacra Rota Romana. 1967 - Pope Paul VI nominated Monsignor Brennan and twenty-six others to the College of Cardinals. - He was consecrated bishop in the Church of Saint Anselmo in Rome. - He was made a Cardinal of the Church by Pope Paul VI. - He was made a Cardinal on the same day as Archbishop Karol Wojtyla of Poland. 1968 - He became the prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments. - Died on July 2nd in Philadelphia.
