Blyden, Edward Wilmot
1832 - Edward Wilmot Blyden was born on the 3rd of August in Saint Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. Liberian-US (West Indies-born) author, diplomat, and educator.
1862-1864 - He was the Liberian Secretary of State.
1862-1871 - He served as professor of classics.
1880-1882 - Served as Minister of the Interior.
1880-1884 - President of Liberia College (now the University of Liberia).
1887 - Wrote "Christianity, Islam and the Negro Race'.
- He served as an ambassador for Liberia to Britain and France.
1912 - He died in Freetown, Sierra Leone, on 7th of February.
