Blount, Winton Malcolm Jr.
1921 - Born in Union Springs, Alabama, on the 1st of February. US postal administrator.
1946 - Blount and his brother Houston started a building contractor company Blount Brothers Corp.
1948 - Winton served as President and Chairman Blount Brothers Corp.
1952 - Appointed the Alabama Chairman of Citizens for Eisenhower.
1960 - Southeastern Campaign Chairman for Richard Nixon's unsuccessful Presidential campaign against John F. Kennedy.
1961 - Elected President of the Alabama Chamber of Commerce.
1964 - He was appointed by Lyndon B. Johnson to the National Citizens Committee for Community Relations.
1968-1969 - President of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
1969-1970 - Appointed United States Postmaster General by the Nixon administration.(last of Cabinet level)
1972 - He ran an unsuccessful campaign against John Sparkman as the Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate from Alabama.
1973 - Returned to Blount International Inc.
1974 - Became President Blount International Inc.
1980 - Served as national chairman of John Connally's unsuccessful primary campaign.
1981-1984 - Blount Inc. built King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
1996 - Greenwich Publishing Group published his autobiography called Doing It My Way.
1999 - He sold Blount International to Lehman Brothers for $1.35 billion.
2002 - Blount died on 24th of October in Highlands, North Carolina at the age of 81.
