1872 - Born in Cambrai, on the 1st of July.

         - He performed the first flight over a large body of water in a heavier-than-air craft.

         - Louis Blériot studied engineering at the École Centrale Paris.

1900 - He built an ornithopter, a type of early aircraft designed to use wing-flapping to achieve flight.

1903-1906 - Blériot and collaborator Gabriel Voisin formed the Blériot-Voisin Company.

1909 - On 25th of July, he made 1st airplane crossing of English Channel.

1936 - Died on the 2nd of August.
