1869 - He graduated from Yale University.

1872-1873 - He established a legal practice with Lyman K. Bass and Grover Cleveland joined the firm, forming Bass, Cleveland and Bissell.

1888 - Entered Democratic Party politics as a candidate for Presidential Elector.

1890 - Served on a commission to amend the judicial articles of the New York Constitution.

1893-1895 - Served as Postmaster General under Grover Cleveland.

         - Received a doctor of laws degree.

1896 - He was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention.

1902 - Extending his career to the field of education, Bissell became chancellor of the University of Buffalo.

1903 - Wilson Shannon Bissell died on 6th of October in Buffalo, New York.
