Bird, Larry Joe
1956 - Bird was born in West Baden Springs, Indiana on the 7th of December.
1974 - He received a basketball scholarship to Indiana University.
1975 - Bird's parents divorced, his father committed suicide.
1978 - He was drafted into the NBA sixth overall by the Boston Celtics.
1980-1993 - He was the forward for Boston Celtics.
- He was named the league's Rookie of the Year.
1984 - He earned the award of Finals Most Valuable Player (MVP).
1985 - The NBA again named Bird the league MVP.
1992 - Due to back problems, he retired as a player from the NBA.
- Bird joined Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan and other NBA stars to play for the United States basketball team.
- On 18th of August, Bird announced his retirement as an NBA player.
1996 - Bird was voted to the NBA's 50th Anniversary All-Time Team.
1997 - He became Head coach of Indiana Pacers.
1998-2000 - Bird served as head coach of the Indiana Pacers.
- He inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
2000 - Bird resigned as Pacers coach after the end of the 2000 season.
2003 - He returned as the Pacers' President of Basketball Operations.
