1938 - Louis Marie Cardinal Billé was born on the 18th of February.

       - Billé studied Catholic Theology and Philosophy, specializing in Biblical Theology.

1962 - On 25th of March, he was ordained priest for the diocese of Lucon.

1966-1972 - Worked as a lecturer at the priests' seminary in Lucon.

1972-1977 - Lecturer at the seminary of La Roche-sur-Yon.

1984-1995 - Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Laval on 10th of May.

1995-1998 - Served as Catholic archbishop of Aix.

1998 - Became Archbishop of Lyon on 10th of July.

2001 - Appointed to the College of Cardinals with the title of Cardinal Priest of San Pietro in Vincoli.

       - Given the title of Santissima Trinità al Monte Pincio.

2002 - He died in Bordeaux on 12th of March after a serious illness and was entombed in Lyon cathedral.

        - Philippe Cardinal Barbarin succeeded him as Archbishop of Lyon.
