Bhutto, Mir Murtaza
Mir Murtaza Bhutto was the eldest son of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
1977 - He served as Prime Minister of Pakistan before being deposed by a military coup, headed by General Zia ul-Haq.
1979 - He was executed and started al-Zulfikar, whose goal was to overthrow the Zia regime, to avenge his father’s detention and execution.
1990 - Banished from Pakistan, Murtaza spent much of his life in exile in Syria, but returned to Pakistani politics.
1996 - After internal conflicts in the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), headed by Murtaza’s older sister Benazir, Murtaza was executed by Pakistani police in 1996 outside of his Karachi home.
- He died on the 20th of September in Karachi, Pakistan.
