Bernard, Sir Francis
1712 - Francis Bernard was born in Brightwell, Oxfordshire, England.
1736 - He graduated from Oxford University granted him a master of arts.
1737 - He read law and was admitted to the bar.
1741 - Francis married Amelia Offley.
1758-1760 - He was appointed governor of New Jersey.
1760-1769 - He served as Governor of Massachusetts.
1769 - He was replaced by Thomas Hutchinson and recalled to England.
- He designed of Harvard Hall at Harvard University, and the completion of a governor's mansion named Jamaica Plains.
- He was made a baronet for his services.
- He served the British government as a commissioner on the Board of Revenue for Ireland.
1779 - He died on the 16th of June at Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire, England.
