Bergius, Friedrich Karl Rudolph
1884 - Born on the 11th of October in Goldschmieden, Germany.
1903 - He studied chemistry at the university of Breslau, and did research at Karlsruhe Technische Hochschule with German chemist Fritz Haber, who introduced him to high-pressure reactions.
1905-1907 - Finished PhD, at the University of Leipzig.
1909 - He studied as scholar in Technische Hochschule, Hanover.
1912 - He worked out a pilot scheme for using high pressure, high temperature, and a catalyst to hydrogenate coal dust or heavy oil to produce paraffins (alkanes) such as petrol and kerosene.
1913 - Wrote The Use of High Pressure in Chemical Actions.
1931 - Won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in recognition of their contributions to the invention and development of chemical high pressure methods.
1948 - He settled in Argentina, as a technical adviser to the government.
1949 - He moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he died on 30th of March.
