2004 - U.S. Justice Department was investigating him for unlawfully mishandling classified documents by removing them from a National Archives reading room prior to testifying before the 9/11 Commission.
2005 - Convicted of unauthorized removal and retention of classified material.
2006 - On 20th of December Berger pleaded guilty and received a criminal sentence.
