1934 - Bennett was born in Leeds, Yorkshire on May 9, 1934.

 

1946-1952 - Attended Leeds Modern School.

 

1954-1957 - Bennett attended and got his bachelor's degree at Exeter College in Oxford.

 

1957-1959 - Attended the National service with Joint Services School for Linguists, Cambridge and Bodmin.

 

1960-1962 - Bennett was a temporary junior lecturer in history, Magdalen College, Oxford. In August of the year 1960, Bennet, along with Moore, Miller adn Cook achieved fame by appearing at the Edinburgh Festival in the satirical revue Beyond the Fringe.

 

1997 - Bennett had to undergo medical treatment for cancer.

 

1998 - Bennett was to be a honorary doctorate from Oxford University but he refused it.
