Benigni, Roberto

1952 - Born on the 27th of October in Misericordia, province of Arezzo, Italy. Italian actor, movie director, and screenwriter.

1972 - His first experiences as theatre actor began in Prato.

         - Moved to Rome where he took part in some experimental theatre spectacles.

1975 - Benigni met his first theatrical success with Cioni Mario di Gaspare fu Giulia.

1977 - Starred in the film Berlinguer ti voglio bene by Giuseppe Bertolucci.

1983 - Directed the movie Tu mi turbi (You upset me).

1984 - Played in Non ci resta che piangere ("Nothing left to do but cry").

1986 - Benigni starred in the film by American director Jim Jarmusch "In Down By Law" as Bob.

1991 - In Night on Earth where he plays a cabbie in Rome.

1993 - He starred in Son of the Pink Panther, directed by veteran Blake Edwards.

1998 - Co-wrote, directed, and starred in movie "Life Is Beautiful" (also "La Vita e bella"as Guido Orefice)

2001 - He directed Pinocchio, one of the most costly films of Italian cinema.

2003 - Starred in the first of Jarmusch's series of short films, Coffee and Cigarettes.

2005 - Benigni's latest film is La tigre e la neve (The Tiger and the Snow), about the Iraq War.

         - On 15th of October, he performed an impromptu strip tease on Italy's most watched evening news program.
