1738 - Born on the 11th of March in Milan, Italy.

 

 

 

1762 - The study of Montesquieu redirected his attention towards economics; and his first publication

 

 

1764 - Published a brief but justly celebrated treatise Dei Delitti e delle Pene.


 

1766 - Translated into French by André Morellet and published with an anonymous commentary by Voltaire.

 

 

1767 - English translation appeared and it was translated into several other languages.

 

 

1768 - Appointed to the chair of law and economy, founded expressly for him at the Palatine college of Milan.

 

 

1771 - Beccaria was made a member of the supreme economic council.

 

 

1791 - He was appointed to the board for the reform of the judicial code, where he made a valuable contribution.

 

 

1794 - He died on 28th of November in Milan.
