1840 - Born on the 22nd of February in Deutz, near Cologne, Germany.
1867 - Founded the Sächsische Volkspartei.
1869 - together with Wilhelm Liebknecht, and the SDAP.
1875 - Merged with the ADAV to form the SAPD, which renamed itself SPD in 1890.
1913 - He died on 18th of March during a visit to a sanatorium in Switzerland and was buried in Zürich.
