Bayh, Birch Evans III

1955 - Birch Evans Bayh III was born in Shirkieville, Indiana.

1974 - Studied high school in St. Albans School, Washington, DC. 1978 - Graduated with honors in business, economics and public policy from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business. 1981 - Received his Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from the University of Virginia.

Clerked for a federal court judge and entered a private law practice in Indianapolis.

1986-1988 - Served as U.S. Secretary of State Indiana.

1987-1997 - Governor of Indiana and the youngest Governor in the nation.

1996 - Delivered keynote address at Democratic National Convention.

1999 - Elected Senator from Indiana.
