1728 - Antoine Baumé was born 26th of February in Senlis.

 

He was apprenticed to the chemist Claude Joseph Geoffroy

 

1752 - Admitted a member of the École de Pharmacie, where he was appointed professor of chemistry.

 

1780 - Retired in order to devote himself to applied chemistry.

 

         - Ruined in the Revolution, he was obliged to return to a commercial career.

 

He is best known as the inventor of the Baumé scale hydrometer.

 

1772 - He became a member of the Academy of Sciences.

 

1796 - Associate of the Academy of Sciences.

 

1804 - Baumé died in Paris on the 15th of October.
