Banks, Russell Earl

1940 - Born on the 28th of March in Newton, Massachusetts.

Attended Colgate University for less than a semester.

Graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

1974 - Russell wrote the  Snow.

1975 - He wrote the Searching for Survivors.

1985 - Mr. Banks wrote novel "Continental Drift" .

1989 - His novels have been made into film "Affliction".

1991 - His novel is adapted for feature-length film is The Sweet Hereafter .

1995 - Russell Banks wrote the "Rule of the Bone".

1997 - The Sweet Hereafter won the Grand Prix and International Critics Prize at the Cannes Film Festival.

1998 - His recent novel is Cloudsplitter, tells the story of martyred anti-slavery activist John Brown, who lived in North Elba, an historic free Negro community in the Adirondacks.

2000 - He wrote The Angle on the Roof.
