         - He wrote the catastrophe novels When Worlds Collide and After Worlds Collide.

         - The former of the two books was eventually made into an award-winning movie by George Pal.

1927 - Editor of Redbook.

1933 - With Philip Wylie, co-wrote novel "When Worlds Collide".

1938-1941 - Balmer also helped create the syndicated comic strip Speed Spaulding, partially based on the Worlds Collide series, which ran in the comic book Famous Funnies.

1949-1953 - Publisher of Redbook.

1959 - Deid on the 21st of March.
