1796 - Hosea Ballou was born in Guilford, Vermont.
He was a Universalist clergyman, theologian, and historian.
1829 - Published the "Ancient History of Universalism".
1845 - Received an honorary Doctorate of Divinity and became an Overseer of Harvard University.
1821-1852 - He presided over the parishes of Roxbury and Medford, Massachusetts.
1853 - Became the first president of Tufts College.
He was its first professor of History and Intellectual Philosophy.
1861 - He died in office.
His personal library remains as a legacy to the university to this day.
