1895 - Born on the 21st January in Getaria, Basque Country, Spain.

 

1915 - Opened dressmaking and tailoring shops of his own in Madrid and Barcelona.

 

1937 - He opened his Paris couture house on avenue George V.

 

He taught fashion design classes, inspiring other designers such as Oscar de la Renta.

 

1968 - He retired as designer.

 

1972 - He died on 23rd of March in Valencia, Spain.

 

Balenciaga fashion house is still going under the direction of Nicolas Ghesquière and under the ownership of the Gucci Group.
