Bakiyev, Kurmanbek

1949 - Born on the 1st of August in Masadan, Jalal-Abad Oblasty, Kyrgyzstan.

1972 - Graduated from the Kuybyshev Polytechnic Institute as an electrical engineer.

1974-1976 - Served in the Soviet Army.

1979 - He was deputy chief engineer at a factory in Jalalabat.

1990 - Promoted as factory Director.

1995 - Appointed Provincial Governor of Jalalabad oblast.

1997-2000 - He served as Governor of Chui oblast.

2000-2002 - Became the Prime Minister.

2005 - Bakiyev won in the Presidential election.
