1873 - Sara Baker was born in Poughkeepsie, New York.

1899 - Enrolled and graduated in Women's Medical College.


1901 - Passed the civil service exam and qualified to be a medical inspector at the Department of Health.


1907 - Received a significant promotion and was appointed assistant to the Commissioner for Public Health of NYC.


1908 - Becomes the Director of the Division of Child Hygiene (later a Bureau).


1916-1930 - Worked on child hygiene at New York University - Bellevue Hospital Medical School.


1917 - Baker was the first woman to receive a doctorate in public health.


1923 - She retired from her post.


1945 - Baker died in New York City.
