1953 - He earned his Ph.D. from Harvard, and has been associated with the University.
1961 - He became a Professor of University of Harvard.
1962-1970 - He served as editor-in-chief of the John Harvard Library.
1967-1977 - Bailyn is the co-editor of the journal Perspectives in American History.
1968 - His Ideological Origins of the American Revolution received Pulitzer and Bancroft Prizes.
1966-1981 - He was Winthrop Professor of History.
1981 - Professor Bailyn is a member of the American Historical Association (President).
1986 - The Voyagers to the West received a Pulitzer Prize.
1989-94 - He was a Trustee of the Institute of Advanced Study, Princeton.
1993 - Professor Emeritus.
1983-1994 - Director of the Charles Warren Center for Studies in American History.
