1774 - Born on the 28th of April at Newbury, Berkshire.

 

1799 - He entered the London Stock Exchange.

 

1802 - The successive publication of Tables for the Purchasing and Renewing of Leases.

 

1808 - The Doctrine of Interest and Annuities.

 

1810 - The Doctrine of Life-Annuities and Assurances.

 

1820 - He takes the to be a important part in the foundation of the Royal Astronomical Society.

 

1827 - Awarded him a Gold medal for his preparation of the Astronomical Society's Catalogue of 2881 stars.

 

1836 - His explanation of "Baily's Beads," during an annular eclipse of the sun on 15th of May at Inch Bonney in Roxburghshire, started the up to date series of eclipse-expeditions.

 

1844 - He died in London, on 30th of August and was buried in the family vault in Thatcham parish church.

 

The lunar crater Baily was named in his honour.
