Leo Hendrik Baekeland was a Belgian-American chemist.
1863 - Born 14th of November in Belgium.
1882 - Studied at the University of Ghent and graduate with a doctorate in natural science.
1890 - Taught chemistry at Ghent and Bruges before emigrating to the USA.
1893 - Invented Velox photographic paper.
1907 - Invented the Bakelite an inexpensive, nonflammable, versatile, and popular plastic.
1909 - Discovered the first synthetic resin (named Bakelite after him) and established the Bakelite.
1910 - Established the Bakelite Corp for its manufacture.
1939 - The Union Carbide bought Bakelite Corp, and he retired to Florida.
1944 - Leo Hendrik died 23rd of February because of a cerebral hemorrhage in a sanatorium in Beacon, New York.
