1839 - Augustus Octavius Bacon was born in Bryan County, Georgia
1859 - Graduated from the literary department of the University of Georgia at Athen.
1860 - Admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Atlanta, Georgia.
1861-1862 - Entered the Confederate Army at the beginning of the Civil War and served during the campaigns as adjutant of the Ninth Georgia Regiment in the Army of Northern Virginia.
1871-1886 - Become a member of the State house of representatives serving as speaker pro tempore for two terms and as speaker eight years.
1880 - Served as President of the Democratic State convention
1894 - Elected as a Democrat to the United States Senate.
1900-1913 - Re-elected as a Democrat to the United States Senate. Served as President pro tempore during the Sixty-second Congress; chairman, Committee on Engrossed Bills (Sixtieth and Sixty-first Congresses), Committee on Private Land Claims (Sixty-first and Sixty-second Congresses), Committee on Foreign Relations (Sixty-third Congress)
1914 - Bacon died 14th of February in Washington, D.C.
