1698 - Born on the 27th of August in Okop, a small village in the Ukraine. The founder of Hasidic Judaism and is better known as the "Baal Shem Tov" meaning " Master of the Good Name" when translated in English.

1720 - His first child, Udel, was born. His wife Leah Rachel gave birth to their second child, Zvi Hersh.

1734 - Rabbi Israel gained the reputation of a holy man and revealed himself to the world as the "Baal Shem Tov".

1740 - Talked about his teachings in the shtetl of Medzhybizh and people from the spiritual elite, listened to him.

1760 - Died on the second day of Shavuous leaving his wife, a son and a daughter. His movement still continues to be a significant force in the Jewish world today.
