1942 - Auth was born on May 7th in Akron, Ohio, and raised in Southern California. American editorial cartoonist.

1947 - He began drawing at age 5 when he was bedridden for a year and a half and spent a great deal of time listening to the radio and looking at comic and children's books.

1965 - He graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) with a degree in biological illustration and worked for six years as chief medical illustrator at Rancho Los Amigos Hospital in Southern California.

1967 - Auth began drawing political cartoons for the UCLA Daily Bruin.

1968 - He was producing three cartoons a week for the UCLA Daily Bruin.

1971 - Tony Auth has served as staff editorial cartoonist at The Philadelphia Inquirer.

1976 - Auth won a Pulitzer Prize for editorial cartooning for his work, as well as five Overseas Press Club awards and the Sigma Delta Chi Award for Distinguished Service in Journalism.

1997 - Auth demonstrates his far-reaching comic vision in this sampling of cartoons.

         - His cartoons present a wealth of commentary with an economy of line and text, making his work a recognizable part of the Philadelphia political landscape.

2002 - Auth has won numerous awards, including the Thomas Nast Prize.

2005 - Winner of the Herblock Prize for editorial cartooning.
