1948 - Billie August, born on the 9th of November in Brede, Denmark. He is a Danish film and television director.
1978 - 1982 - His early film and television production, which includes such films as Honningmåne (In My Life) and the television play Maj.
1983 - 1984 - In Zappa, Tro, håb og kærlighed (Twist and Shout) and Busters verden (Buster’s World), all based on novels by Bjarne Reuter, he explores the conflict- filled and magic world of the youth of the 60s.
1987 - Pelle Erobreren (Pelle the Conqueror), based on Martin Andersen Nexø's novel, won both the Golden Palms in Cannes and an Oscar. Here he created both a social historical epic and a beautiful psychological study of a boy and his father.
1991 - 1997 - He was partially educated in Sweden and also married to Swedish actress Pernilla August.
1991 - His international breakthrough was followed by the film and television series Den gode vilje (The Best Intentions) with a script by Ingmar Bergman. The film was awarded the Golden Palms in Cannes.
1996 - Jerusalem, based on a novel by the swedish author Selma Lagerlöf, these two films form a sort of Nordic epic film-triology.
2001 - He made his come-back with the Scandinavian closet play En sang for Martin (A song for Martin).
