1916 - Born on February 19th in Cincinnati, Ohio. American jockey.

1930-1932 - He began jockeying but didn't get his first victory until January, at Caliente Park in Mexico.

1933 - Arcaro was the leading apprentice jockey at New Orleans, but missed three months with a fractured skull and punctured lung after a fall at Chicago in June.

1937 - Married to Ruth Arcaro.

1938 - Arcaro won his first Kentucky Derby aboard Lawring.

1941-1948 - Was one of the greatest riders in the history of thoroughbred horse racing and the only jockey ever to win the Triple Crown twice, riding Whirlaway to victory in the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness Stakes, and the Belmont Stakes and repeating the feat on Citation.

1950 - He was the leader again with $1,410,160, when he won the Preakness on Hill Prince.

1956 - Arcaro had his last victory in a triple crown race with Fabius, a son of Citation, in the Preakness.

1958 - Inducted into the Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame.

1962 - He retired early because of bursitis in his right arm. He later served as a television commentator and as a public relations person for the Golden Nugget Casinos.

1997 - Died of liver cancer on November 4th in Miami, Florida.

         - In 24,092 races, Arcaro had 4,779 wins, 3,807 seconds, and 3,302 third-place finishes, with $30,039,543 in purses.
