1843 - Born at Walberton, Sussex on the 14th of  November.

1866 - Educated at Eton and Balliol College, Oxford, he took a first class in the final classical schools.

1869 - He was called to the bar.

1873 - He went the home circuit, when he succeeded to the baronetcy.

1874 - He became Vinerian reader in English law at Oxford.

1881 - He became warden of All Souls College.

1892 - He identified himself both with local and university interests; he became an alderman of the city of Oxford.

1894 - Chairman of quarter sessions for the county.

1898 - He was vice-chancellor of the university.

1899 - Chancellor of the diocese of Oxford.

1900 - He preserved an active interest in education, being a member of the newly created consultative committee of the Board of Education.

1902 - He became Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education.

1914 - William Reynell died.
