1901 - Born on October 1st in Salto. Jose Leandro Andrade is a legendary winger from Uruguay, who won the very first World Cup tournament. He is considered one of the top footballers of the 1920s.

         - Andrade is also one of the first black soccer players to get serious recognition.

1924-1928 - Won two gold medals from the Olympic Games.

1930 - His team won the championship in the World Cup.

1957 - Died on October 5th.
