Alpini, Prospero

1553 - Alpini was born in Venice, Italy on November 23, 1553.

1568 - He joined the Milanese Army.

1574 - Alpini studied medicine at Padua.

1758 - He received his doctor's degree and settled as a physician in Campo San Pietro.

1580 - Went to Egypt as physician to George Emo.

1586 - Discovered the sexuality of plants during his stay at Egypt.

1590 - Became the physician to Andrea Doria in Genoa.

1592 - Wrote the book entitled De Plantis Aegypti liber.

1593 - He was appointed professor of botany at Padua.

1617 - Died on February 6, 1617.
