1812 - George James Allman was born in Cork, Ireland.

 

1843 - He graduated his degree in Medicine in Dublin.

 

1844 - He was awarded a degree in Arts and Medicine at Trinity College in Dublin.

 

1844-1856 - He was appointed as a professor of botany in Trinity College, Dublin.

 

1854 - He was elected in the Fellow of the Royal Society.

 

1856-1870 - He was appointed Regius Professor of Natural History in the University of Edinburgh.

 

1873 - He was awarded a Gold Medal of the Royal Society.

 

1877 - He was awarded a Brisbane Gold Medal of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.

 

1878 - He was awarded a Conningham Gold Medal of the Royal Irish Academy.

 

1879 - He was elected as a President of the British Association for the Advancement of Science.

 

1896 - He was awarded a Gold Medal of the Linnean Society.

 

1870 - He resigned his chair at Edinburgh due to poor health.

 

1871-1872 - He published his most important work about gymnoblastic hydrozoa.

 

1898 - He died on the 24th of November.
