1599 - Alexander VII was born in Siena, Italy on February 13, 1599.


1606-1625 - He was educated with a private tutor and attended University of Siena where he received his doctorates of philosophy, law, and theology.


1627 - Started his apprenticeship at Ferrara as the vice-Papal legate.


1639-1651 - Appointed Inquisitor of Malta and later nuncio in Cologne. He participated in the negotiations which led to the Peace of Westphalia and Treaty of Westphalia. Established the balance of European power.


1655 - Appointed Cardinal Secretary by Pope Innocent X. After the death of the Pope, he was crowned on April 7, 1655.


1661 - Forbade the translation of the Roman Missal into French.


1665 - He canonized Francis de Sales.


1667 - Died in Rome, Italy on May 22, 1667.
