1818 - Alexander II was born in Moscow on April 17, 1818.


1841 - Married Princess Marie of Hesse on April 16, 1841.


1855 - Became the Ruler of Russia on March 2, 1855. Upon his succession, he made radical reforms.


1861 - Signed and published the emancipation law on March 3, 1861.


1863 - Re-established the Diet of Finland and initiated several reforms for Finland.


1864 - Initiated a new judicial administration based on the French model, simplified system of civil and criminal procedure.


1866 - An attempt to kill him happened in Petersburg, the assassin was Dmitry Karakozov.


1874 - Initiated the reform in the army and navy re-organization.


1879 - While on a walk towards  the Square of the Guards Staff, he met Alexander Soloviev with a revolver in his hands. Alexander II ran away while Soloviev is firing at him.


1880 - Married Princess Catherine Dolgoruki on July 6, 1880.


1881 - Died in Saint Petersburg on March 13, 1881. He was killed by a bomb explosion.
