1896 - Alessandri was born in Santiago, Chile on May 19, 1896.

 

1919 - Attended and graduated at the University of Chile with a degree in civil engineering.

 

1932-1938 - Became the president of the mortgage bank, Caja de Credito Hipotecario while running the Paper and Carton Manufacturing Company.

 

1944-1947 - Became Chairman of the Chilean employers' confederation.

 

1947-1950 - Appointed Minister of Finance under Gabriel Gonzalez Videla.

 

1958-1964 - Became President of Chile.

 

1976 - Appointed President of a newly formed Council of State, main objective is to create a constitution to legitimize military rule.

 

1986 - Died in Santiago, Chile on August 31, 1986.
