Aleman, Mateo

1547 - Aleman was born in Seville, Spain on September 28, 1547.

1564 - Graduated from Seville University.

1571-1588 - Worked at the National Treasury of Spain. Married Catalina de Espinosa.

1594 - Arrested on charges of malversation.

1599 - Published the first part of his novel entitled Guzman de Alfarache.

1608 - Migrated to America and started a business.

1609 - Published his novel entitled Ortografía castellana.
