1902 - Alder was born in Prussia, Germany on July 10, 1902.
1922 - Attended and graduated from the University of Berlin with a degree in chemistry.
1926 - Received his Ph.D. at University of Kiel.
1940 - Appointed Professor of Experimental Chemistry and Chemical Technology at the University of Cologne and Director of the Institute of Chemistry.
1950 - Received the 1950 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
1958 - Died in Cologne, Germany on June 20, 1958
