1918 - Agnew was born in Towson, Maryland on November 9, 1918.

 

1937 - Attended public schools in Baltimore and went to Johns Hopkins University.

 

1940 - Entered the US Army during the World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star for his service in France and Germany.

 

1942 - Worked at an insurance company where he met and married his wife, Elinor Judefind.

 

1947 - Received his Law degree at the University of Baltimore School of Law.

 

1949 - Passed the bar and began his career as lawyer.

 

1950 - Aided US Congressman James Devereux in winning in the election.

 

1957 - Entered politics upon his appointment to the Baltimore County Board of Appeals.

 

1962 - Won the election for the position of County Executive of Baltimore County.

 

1966 - Won the election for the position of Governor of Maryland.

 

1969 - Agnew became the 39th Vice President of the United States under President Richard M. Nixon.

 

1973 - Became the second Vice President to resign the office, on October 10, 1973. He resigned and pleaded no contest to the criminal charges of tax evasion and money laundering.

 

1996 - Died due to a liver cancer in Maryland, Worcester County on September 17, 1996.
