1866 - Born on the 9th of February in Kentland, Indiana.

1877 - He graduated from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.

         - He became a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity.

1890 - He joined the Chicago Morning News, which later became the Chicago Record.

         - He wrote the column, Stories of the Streets and of Town.

         - His well-known "fables in slang" also made their first appearance in this popular column.

1902 - He built a home near the town of Brook, Indiana.

1908 - He became known for hosting a campaign.

1944 - He died in Brook, Indiana on the 16th of May, and buried in Fairlawn Cemetery in Kentland.
