1965 - Found an assistant she deemed worthy to take into partnership. She was Nancy Axelrod, and graduated from Drew University.
1982 - Her death was lamented as the passing of "the real-life Carolyn Keene for more than half a century".
- The years of investigation finally broke the secrecy behind Carolyn Keene's identity. It was Mildred Augustine Wirt, now Mildred A. Wirt Benson who authored 22 of the first 25 volumes.
