1846 - Antonio Abetti was born on June 19, 1846 in San Pietro di Gorizia, then Gorz, Italy.
1867 - He received a degree in mathematics and engineering from the University of Padua.
1868 - Abetti was a civil engineer but turned his interest to astronomy after a year he became a civil engineer. He became director of the Osservatorio Astrofisico di Arcetri and a professor at the University of Florence.
1874 - He was part of an expedition led by Pietro Tacchini to observe a transit of Venus with a spectroscope. He was a member of the Accademia dei Lincei and the Royal Astronomical Society.
1893 - He worked at the local observatory as an astronomer.
1921 - In 1921, aged 75, he had to retire but continued his researches at the observatory.
1928 - He died in Arcetri (Florence) on the February 20, 1928.
