Abduh, Muhammad

1849 - He was born in the Nile Delta, Northern Egypt.

1882 - He was exiled from Egypt for six years, for his participation in the Urabi Revolt.

1884 - He moved to Paris France where he joined al-Afghani in publishing The Firmest Bond, an Islamic

              revolutionary journal.

1888 - He started on his legal career, when he returned to Egypt.

1889 - He was appointed a judge in the National Courts of First Instance.

1891 - He was appointed a judge in the Court of Appeals.

1899 - He was appointed an official mufti (Islamic legal counselor), a title he held until his death.

         - He taught that morality and law must be adapted to modern conditions in the interest of the common

              good.

1905 - He died on the 11th of July.
