1803 - He was born at Hallowell, Maine on the 14th of  November.

1820 - He graduated from Bewdoin College in the coastal New England  town of Brunswick, Maine.

1821 - He studied at Andover Theological Seminary in United States.

1825 - He was professor of Mathematics and Natural Philosophy at Amherst College in Massachusetts,

               USA for four years.

1826 - He was licensed to preach by the Hampshire Association.

1829 - He founded the Mount Vernon School for Young Ladies in Boston and was principal of it.

1834 - He was pastor of Eliot Congregational Church (which he founded), at Roxbury, Massachusetts for one year.

1843 - His brothers, a founder, was a principal of Abbott Institute.

1845 - He was a prolific author, writing juvenile fiction, brief histories, biographies, religious books for the

               general reader, and a few works in popular science.

1879 - He died on the 31st October in Farmington, Maine in the United States.
